Hi All,
I know ... this is old and usually easy ... turn off "Startup Boost" and "Continue running background apps ..."
I have those off and it always worked they way it supposed to.
All of a sudden Edge keeps running.
Indication for still running comes from Ccleaner, which removes all trackers. All of a sudden I get the message:
(paraphrased) Ccleaner can't clean because Edge is still running ... needs to be forced shut down"
In Task manager I also still see 11 Edge processes going even though Edge is shut off.
Again ... "Startup Boost" and "Background Apps ..." are unchecked in settings.
Any suggestions?
I repaired Edge already and nothing changed. Its updated.
PS: I checked in another machine (Win10), same Edge version ... no problems here ... all Edge processes in Task Manager disappear
when shutting Edge down.
Thanks

Thanks Jack A2
That's new. I did mine a month ago, so now it's a useless fix.
Thanks.
Look at the website yourself it says Microsoft edge does not have a standalone bar now at the top of the page
Hi rodro and Klaus. I really enjoyed this easy, additional fix for my Windows 10 22H2.
I downloaded this "standaloneHub..... disable registry editor " from Elevenforum.com:
Enable or Disable Standalone Sidebar in Microsoft Edge Tutorial | Windows 11 Forum (elevenforum.com),
along with reloading Windows, mine is working flawlessly now.

Noticed the same issue with Windows 11 pro Edge version 122.0.2365.66 (Official build) (64-bit), also noticed this with another chromium based browser Norton Private Browser version 121.0.23992.186 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Running in background is never a good thing even with todays sophisticated multicore monster PC's. It takes away resources, however small, from other tasks users may wish to use at peak performance. This needs to be easier to handle as it is not entirely straight in how to accomplish turning the thing off!
