Hi All,
I know ... this is old and usually easy ... turn off "Startup Boost" and "Continue running background apps ..."
I have those off and it always worked they way it supposed to.
All of a sudden Edge keeps running.
Indication for still running comes from Ccleaner, which removes all trackers. All of a sudden I get the message:
(paraphrased) Ccleaner can't clean because Edge is still running ... needs to be forced shut down"
In Task manager I also still see 11 Edge processes going even though Edge is shut off.
Again ... "Startup Boost" and "Background Apps ..." are unchecked in settings.
Any suggestions?
I repaired Edge already and nothing changed. Its updated.
PS: I checked in another machine (Win10), same Edge version ... no problems here ... all Edge processes in Task Manager disappear
when shutting Edge down.
Thanks

I would LOVE to stop all Browsing History collection. I did manage to rid of OneDrive a couple of years ago and hate anything to do with it. I would love for them to show me how to NOT be involved with ANY (AI) in my computer. I don't want them to "Help" to make anything easier for me. I want my Windows 10 Home to be maintained as before AI was introduced AND KEEP IT THAT WAY without any further "enhancements."
Do you have some methods to "get rid" of "Big brother" stuff?
BTW: I see today that Edge AND my Google Chrome remote Desktop files were updated AGAIN on the 5th. (I do have a "give me the latest updates as soon as they're available" turned on; in hopes for getting these bugs out).
ALSO, I need to tell them that they made some progress - mine is working fairly well at the moment!!!
I got rid / uninstalled of OneDrive as well.
Not necessary to have on your machine.
It can be accessed from your browser / online at onedrive.com and operated as usual.
In general - get rid of all "Big Brother" "Big Nanny" so-called "helpful" features that supposed to
make your life easier and do things for you.
That's the stuff that runs in the background and needs Edge / internet access all the time.
And Yes: keep bugging Microsoft via Feedback ... this is only a forum.
I hope y'all are reporting these to Microsoft with the Edge> Settings > Help and Feedback.
This is just the community and I do appreciate knowing I'm not alone in this.
I installed the beta 122 version and it works a little better, but still spotty. If I enable copilot functionality in the browser, it still continues in the background. Also have you or anyone else noticed that Onedrive continues in the background when quitting? It's happening on both Windows 10 & 11.
