I'll give that a try, thanks
You're welcome. What I'm reminded of with this thread is that solving the irregularities of Windows and Edge is often accomplished by using all of the informed suggestions in a forum, and "beating" Windows and Edge over the head until they comply!
Thank you, VOX for that excellent summary. I combined that with a photo online by https://www.windowslatest.com/2024/12/23/ article about this folder issue and finally got my Windows 10 folders back in yellow.
I'm an older (72) non-technical guy and this was great having your step by step plan. Once I got the insert in the right location on the shortcut page and restarted the Edge browser, there were those great yellow folders again.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to helping me get these folders back, and they are back for now, and thank you VOX for the good summary, actually EXCELLENT SUMMARY.
I SURELY HOPE MSN WILL FIX THIS FOR EVERYONE, AND A LOT OF THE OPTIONS PEOPLE HAVE MENTIONED WOULD BE NICE AS WELL.
(JUST LIKE COLOR CODED FILE FOLDERS IN THE FILE DRAWER ARE NICE SOMETIMES.)
You're welcome, Casta, and thanks back to you for your kind words.
Regarding the proper placement of the new command, I added a caveat to step 2 of my summary:
2). Go to your Edge shortcut and insert the "--disable-features=msFavoritesMonolineFolder" command in the target line, being sure to leave a space between the added command and the preceding "exe."
Sadly, none of the suggested fixes have worked on my system (Windows 11 Ver 24H2 build 26100.3194, MS Edge Version 133.0.3065.82).
I have persisted in my loyalty to MS Edge for many years now, in spite of the frequent tinkering and over-complication by Microsoft.
Today, with the complexity of settings from 16 different Settings sub-menus, it is little wonder that many of us end up with individual configurations the may not always behave as expected. Add to this, registry hacks, the customised shortcut to disable mono-folders (which does not work) and any other unofficial tweaks found on-line (including this forum) and we have a recipe for chaos.
I could try the the nuclear option in settings, Reset Settings to default. Unfortunately this may take me to a worse place than these irritating mono-folders that are not good aesthetically and seem to make it harder to focus on the target named folder.
So, nuclear option or time to ditch MS Edge for a different browser?
