My favourites Bar icons in Windows 11 are not coloured. How can I restore the colour.

I have FOUND A FIX for my 2024 HP Pavilion All-In-One Desktop, using Micrsoft Windows 11 Version 24H2, Edge Version 133.0.3065.69 (Official build) (64-bit), Edge Favorites folders Mono color. I have been able to return the folder color back to YELLOW on all folders. Please find below my findings.

First step was to change the properties in the msedge.exe file as many have stated to modify the "Favorites mono line folder" to be disabled as in the linked procedure here: Microsoft Edge drops yellow for folders (favourites), gets monoline transparent look

Second I opened Edge, proceeded to the upper right 3 dots (...) option to enter Edge Settings.

Select the Settings drop down menu in the upper left.

Select Appearance. -------- Please see picture below

Scroll down a little until you reach the Page Colors. Turn off page colors.

Next Deselect "Only apply page colors when high contrast themes are on".

Next Deselect "Try the new look and feel of Microsoft Edge".

RESTART your computer not just log out.

Once you have restarted may you be amazed that it worked as I was.

Once you have completed these steps I am hopeful it will fix the majority of Mono Folder issues within Edge. I have been searching and troubleshooting for quite a while to fix this issue. Hope it helps..

Sorry to hear that. It is definitely a frustrating issue. I have had the same issue on 3 different generations of PC's and a laptop. This is the first fix to repair the problem on my pc's.

Did not work for me.

BHurls approach didn't work for me, but here's an approach that while not the full Promised Land, at least provides me with yellow Edge favorite folders when I first boot up in the morning.

1. Insert the "--disable-features=msFavoritesMonolineFolder" command in the target line of the Edge shorcut that's discussed several times throughout this thread (be sure to include a space after the preceding "exe.")
2. In Windows (a correction from previous "Edge"), go to Settings > Apps > Startup, and deselect Microsoft Edge.
3. CTRL + ALT + DEL to get to Task Manager, then stop "Microsoft Edge" (don't worry about "Microsoft Edge Update").
4. Reboot. For me, the favorite folders are all yellow when my system first fires up. I have an upper end Lenovo desktop running the lastest version of Windows 11 as of 2/20/25.
5. That's the good news. The bad news? As soon as you close out Edge and then reopen it, the blasted monoline folders reappear.
6. What I do is open a separate Edge window at the outset, then minimize it and leave it running, so that even when I close the Edge window(s) I'm using for productivity, the folders remain yellow.

Did you try going into "Settings -> System and Performance" and disabling "Startup boost", and then reboot? That resolved the issue with monoline folders coming back after closing Edge and reopening for me.
