OK, I don't know what changed, but nowt the folder Icons in EDGE are back to Yellow. I did not do any work arounds.

Edge is Version 131.0.2903.112 (Official build) (64-bit)

So, apparently, besides adding --disable-features=msFavoritesMonolineFolder to the shortcut Target field you must also kill any and all instances of Microsoft Edge running in the Task Manager. Then clicking the shortcut seems to consistently restore the yellow folders. This seems to work in Windows 10 and 11.

Unfortunately, the restoration is very temperamental. It only seems to last for the current session. If you close and reopen Edge, the transparent folders return.

So, if you want the yellow folders on subsequent uses of Edge, you must repeat killing Edge in Task Manager.

Temporary workaround mentioned here > https://www.windowslatest.com/2024/12/23/microsoft-edge-drops-yellow-for-folders-favourites-gets-monoline-transparent-look/

    Thanks for the tip, Ṣmeed.

I'm on Mac and this option does indeed work by sending this command in Terminal:

open -a "Microsoft Edge" --args --disable-features=msFavoritesMonolineFolder

It's better than nothing, but it's obviously still just a lousy workaround. Now Edge should always be either open via Terminal or a custom script. Hopefully Microsoft listens to user feedback and will give an option to restore the normal yellow icons in the UI.
