I disabled Settings -> System and Performance and disabled both "Startup boost" and "Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed" and restarted Edge. The folders are still hollow rectangles.
As I've said numerous times, like most Microsoft support threads, this is an entire waste of time!
Hi,
Allow me (well EdFrazier1) to help. Have you checked the below option to see if this works for you?
I found that if I went into Settings -> System and Performance and disabled both "Startup boost" and "Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed" that Edge no longer ran several processes in the background after closing the current session, so it worked every time after that (retained the yellow folders).
Yeah sounds good, well for now you've helped me fix the issue so thank you 🙂.
I have the same exact version 131.0.2903.112 (Official build) (64-bit) and my folders are still hollow rectangles. This entire thread is a waste of time!
My settings were both enabled. I then just wanted to make sure that all processes in the background were killed after exiting Edge so I disabled both. It worked, but I like to minimize change and enabled each one at a time to see if only one was truly causing the background processes, which turned out to be "Startup boost".
