Why was my email deleted after two years?

Hello i recently found out that my email account was deleted for inactive or just basically not signing in for two years. Any tabs i go, and do a recovery of that email would take me to a 404 error page and refreshing the page doesn't help either. Trying to contact someone or a virtual assistance would either give me a 404 page or a downloadable link which has nothing on it. I didn't know this was a thing and im trying to recover that email since im trying to unlink a lot of stuff and also some websites sent security codes to that email which im unable to access. Making a new email with the same name and @ tells me it exists but again im not able to log into it.
