Why is the MS Edge homepage filled with clickbait articles and ads?

The MS Edge browser opens up with a wave of trash clickbait and spammy ads. I understand you can edit the topics that appear on the browser tab when you open the new browser, which is effective, until it turns itself back on after a while. The articles are blatant clickbait, a lot of them even written like this: Th.is art!CL.e is Cl.ic.kbA.!t. The ads also disguise themselves as articles. The articles themselves have low quality, unverifiable content, many of which do not even have a "report ad / article" button. It's been a pathetic experience on this browser, which is shocking for a MS product. Please inform me how can we remove these spammy ads and clickbait entirely, and if not, let me know so I can action it accordingly.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems. May I ask which Windows 10/11 build are you running - 21H2 or 22H2?

I would suggest using an adblocker browser extension like AdGuard, Ghostery &/or Malwarebytes. These should block the scam type ads if not all ads.

You can also report these via the feedback app - Windows key + F key if there’s no report button.

    SO in other words to use the edge browser we have to buy another extension to block your ads?

    I also get ads with my Microsoft 365 office account. Its never ending when you trying to do work and all you get is another AD.

    WHY DO I HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER SUBSCRIPTION TO BLOCK ADS IN SOMETHING I ALREADY PAY FOR?

    First of all, I, also, have MS365, NO ads.

    2ndly, there is absolutely no need buy an ad blocker extension nor even use a FREE one.

    Now, please, do or have set what I show below:

    Always do the following in Edge Settings:

    ImageImage
    Image
    Image

    And this 👇 in/for the OS:

    Hit Win key

    Begin typing InternetWill come up Internet Options, clink on that.

    At the top of the window hit the Privacy tab.

    Make sure Turn on Pop-up Blocker is checked ✅

    BTW: I use the OS with Microsoft Defender & Edge with the settings shown and I have NO pop-ups or ads.

    NB: Since you have MS365 I very much recommend you grab Microsoft Defender. It is available to you FOR FREE with your subscription. It can go with your Win11 AND your mobile📱, too 👍👍

    No, it does not. Maybe, you should use the same settings as I show in this thread. They result in NO ads or pop-ups.
