Web Select Option Gone After Recent Edge Update

I'm not on a preview version.

When I use web capture I only see this.

This has genuinely destroyed my productivity, since losing the feature and will absolutely be looking for another browser If I doesn't return soon. I cant figure out why it was removed. I really question the teams at Microsoft some times 🤔

Appears that in the latest version 116.0.1938.62 (Official build) (64-bit). Web Select is completely gone. Even the keyboard shortcut does not seem to work. I have no idea why such a useful feature would be removed yet other useless features remain. What other browser does the community recommend?

So MS decided to axe one of the actually useful, and surprisingly well executed, features of edge but they keep all of the other stuff no one really asked for or the OS supports natively?

We don't need yet another thing nagging us about coupons, I get enough of that from bing search and I see enough ads for consumeristic junk I don't want as it is.

The rounded border they added to the browser recently, all that does it take up screen real estate, real nice when I am working on a small screen or viewing windows side by side. Which, by the way every modern desktop system supports, we didn't need a split screen view baked in to the browser.

I don't know how many websites I have seen where someone just dumps html on the screen, mixes it all up, and calls it good. Web select allowed me to select parts of the page without selecting all kinds of other junk.

Stop trying to win users with flashy gimmicks, those users are easy come easy go, when you do win them over, they won't stay long because some other shiny thing will catch their attention and they will be off chasing that. Build something that is useful and provides value and you will win users that will stay with you.

First it was web select being moved inside web capture, which by itself is a redundant thing because I completely cannot understand why it has to be there when Windows has a builtin snipping tool which is also being actively developed, and now it's removed from web capture as well? Web select is so much more useful than the stupid web capture. There are plenty of elements on a webpage that are difficult to select, like the content of a link, a button, etc. and with web select, you finally don't need to open the development tools just to copy text part of an element. This makes it a valid addon feature that is going to make people prefer edge to other chromium based browsers while web capture is not.

It also says Microsoft could be replacing web select with something else. OK that is fine, but why don't you wait for that something to finally be available before you delete the existing one? That doesn't make any sense.

The Edge team, or I should say Microsoft, never fails to disgust users with their destructive upgrades. A bit of digression, Windows use to have amazing backward compatibility, but now it's just keep replacing old components with stuff that looks a little bit nicer but doesn't replicate all the functionalities all the time, encroaching the user experience.
