Window Display in MS Edge Randomly Blurs

Good day,

Sometimes when I am using MS Edge, the window display blurs seemingly without cause and stays there for a few minutes. When I say "window display" I mean it only applies to the Edge Work window I have open (I don't remember it occurring with other profile windows), and it isn't the whole window, but only the page display which is everything below the URL line.

At first, I suspected this might have something to do with Sleeping Tabs since it sometimes occurs when I step away from my computer. When I return, if I click anywhere on the page display, it returns to normal. However, I tried disabling sleeping tabs when it occurred randomly (while I was using the page) and it still persisted.

Apart from when I have left the computer for a while and clicking, there is nothing that I have found that consistently restores the normal unblurred screen. I have had some level of success with opening new tabs (this sometimes fixes it), but this does not always work and is not predictable.

My current version of Edge is 118.0.2060.1 (Official build) dev (64-bit). I have also reported this through Send Feedback.

If anyone knows about this, I would appreciate any assistance.

119.0.2151.42 (Beta) and 120.0.2186.0 (Dev/Canary) should have the fixes.

I'll reply back with the Edge versions that have the change that allows "no policies" to imply "never blur for inactivity". The change that I previously mentioned that is in Edge Canary is going to require a second fix (due to technical reasons). Hopefully that will land in Canary within 1-2 days; and then both fixes will be taken together to Beta/Stable.

    I completed the clean boot as per the instructions (all non-Microsoft services and startup apps disabled). Also, all extensions were also disabled. This continues to happen with my Work profile (while the personal profile does not experience this at all).

    hopefully we get a response from someone other than the bot-like "did you disable xyz".

    I'm getting the same from today. The only change is 2023-09 Win11 22H2 Update (kb5030219) applied yesterday.

    100% feels like a sleeping mode. As soon as I bring the tab into focus, it resumes that tab.

    Likewise. It was fine until I restarted Edge given it had an update pending (probably KB5030219). Now it's blurring random tabs at seemingly random times.

    "Use hardware acceleration when available" is enabled with GTX1070 current driver. I'll disable it and see if anything changes.
