Window Display in MS Edge Randomly Blurs

Good day,

Sometimes when I am using MS Edge, the window display blurs seemingly without cause and stays there for a few minutes. When I say "window display" I mean it only applies to the Edge Work window I have open (I don't remember it occurring with other profile windows), and it isn't the whole window, but only the page display which is everything below the URL line.

At first, I suspected this might have something to do with Sleeping Tabs since it sometimes occurs when I step away from my computer. When I return, if I click anywhere on the page display, it returns to normal. However, I tried disabling sleeping tabs when it occurred randomly (while I was using the page) and it still persisted.

Apart from when I have left the computer for a while and clicking, there is nothing that I have found that consistently restores the normal unblurred screen. I have had some level of success with opening new tabs (this sometimes fixes it), but this does not always work and is not predictable.

My current version of Edge is 118.0.2060.1 (Official build) dev (64-bit). I have also reported this through Send Feedback.

If anyone knows about this, I would appreciate any assistance.

119.0.2151.42 (Beta) and 120.0.2186.0 (Dev/Canary) should have the fixes.

I'll reply back with the Edge versions that have the change that allows "no policies" to imply "never blur for inactivity". The change that I previously mentioned that is in Edge Canary is going to require a second fix (due to technical reasons). Hopefully that will land in Canary within 1-2 days; and then both fixes will be taken together to Beta/Stable.

    So on the 26th you said, "The inactivity timeout is 30 minutes by default (admin configurable for the work account)."

    On the 27th you said, "It appears there isn't a setting to disable the inactivity timeout; also the 30-minute value may not be exposed (yet?) either."

    I am with @JM_Taylor on this one. In my case, I AM THE INTUNE ADMINISTRATOR and this blurry Edge is driving me crazy, so crazy that switching to Chrome sounds like heaven-sent.

    We need an ETA. If this is Admin configurable, and I AM THE ADMIN, please show me WHERE to change the setting.

    And as you @SSatMS rightfully said, many people (including me) run Teams/SharePoint/Planner/Other as Apps on Edge and do not interact with this "browser app every 30 mins or so". So to glance at a 2nd screen to check the status of something and see a blurry screen is highly annoying.

    This Edge issue is new, it was not like this, for weeks/months. A recent update (Windows/Edge, I do not know) caused this.

    Please get it working again as it has been working for a long time.

    Where is the exact setting to disable the blur in Intune MAM? Also, can you advise if it turning off the blur would also affect other DLP settings? That is, it would be great to disable just the blurring aspect of the MAM DLP setting and nothing else. (I am trying to get as much information as I can to take to the Intune admin.)

    It appears there isn't a setting to disable the inactivity timeout; also the 30 minute value may not be exposed (yet?) either. We're planning on making a change so that if there are no "app protection policies" (which I believe includes DLP) then we'll also not enforce the inactivity timeout. That change/fix has yet to be authored though (hopefully within a few weeks).
