Window Display in MS Edge Randomly Blurs

Good day,

Sometimes when I am using MS Edge, the window display blurs seemingly without cause and stays there for a few minutes. When I say "window display" I mean it only applies to the Edge Work window I have open (I don't remember it occurring with other profile windows), and it isn't the whole window, but only the page display which is everything below the URL line.

At first, I suspected this might have something to do with Sleeping Tabs since it sometimes occurs when I step away from my computer. When I return, if I click anywhere on the page display, it returns to normal. However, I tried disabling sleeping tabs when it occurred randomly (while I was using the page) and it still persisted.

Apart from when I have left the computer for a while and clicking, there is nothing that I have found that consistently restores the normal unblurred screen. I have had some level of success with opening new tabs (this sometimes fixes it), but this does not always work and is not predictable.

Below are two screenshots - normal and blurred:

My current version of Edge is 118.0.2060.1 (Official build) dev (64-bit). I have also reported this through Send Feedback.

If anyone knows about this, I would appreciate any assistance.

Thank you.

119.0.2151.42 (Beta) and 120.0.2186.0 (Dev/Canary) should have the fixes.

I'll reply back with the Edge versions that have the change that allows "no policies" to imply "never blur for inactivity". The change that I previously mentioned that is in Edge Canary is going to require a second fix (due to technical reasons). Hopefully that will land in Canary within 1-2 days; and then both fixes will be taken together to Beta/Stable.

    @SSatMS Thanks for some of the insights above. I have had the blur happen this week on my work profile--aggravating. I, too, have found that reactivating the window will work; however, when I have multiple windows open on different screens, I have to figure out which individual window is the one that went idle causing all windows to blur. Being active in one window will not prevent the blur from happening nor remove the blur when it happens. So I end up clicking through all my other open windows until I find the one that fell dormant. Then all of the windows become clear again. It is a pain, especially as a trainer who needs multiple resources open and visible at the same time for reference (they may not be clicked on for a while, but that does not mean they are not being actively used). Thanks again. This thread made me feel I at least wasn't alone. Hope this is quickly resolved.

    By "Admin" I meant Intune Admin -- whoever is configuring Intune policies for your work account.

    A workaround that seems to work for me is to reactivate the window (so click on desktop, click on the blurred tab).

    @SSatMS and @0x6f677548

    Let me see if I have this correct (please forgive the poor use of terminology and concepts)...

    @0x6f677548, in your reply to me (and to others), MAM occurs because of an automated process that rolls out policies to apps (in this case, Edge for Work - or maybe any device that signs in with a organisational account).

    Based on your reply to @SSatMS (in the same post), you said that you are experiencing the issue as well. You mentioned that you might deactivate the blur timeout as a test. Therefore, it sounds like it is a known issue without a solution - that is, the blur timeout shouldn't be happening when a tab is clearly in use? (While I was writing this, it happened again...)

    Please let us know if deactivating blur timeout prevents the issue. Also, to help those with administrative rights, please inform us how to deactivate blur timeout.
