Edge will not close - any help please?

Ok - This morning I opened Edge (w10) and when I clicked the X to close, it would not close. I tried to minimise and click close, still would not work. I can only close it via task manager or rebooting. Nothing has chnaged since last night, so no idea why it has happened. Is there a simple answer as in apps both uninstall and modify are grayed out.

The PC is mine, not a work one and is W10.

Keith

PS - Just tried with my w10 laptop, am able to close edge as normal. So have no idea why the desktop is playing up. Is there a solution?

    Mine is working after this:

    1. Click the three dots on the top left
    2. Scroll down the menu, and click "Close Microsoft Edge."
    3. Open Edge and try to click the X again.

    Hope this can help you.

I turned them all off, restarted the browser, and now I can minimalize Edge but it will not close unless I force it via Task Manager.

    Hi there peeps.

This can be resolved, however keep in mind this will clear your browser data. Please export your favourites and login information if you would like those saved. Keep in mind it's good practice to make sure windows is Updated and Restarted (doing shutdown may activate hybrid sleep and not refresh your profile)

Here are the following steps I've used to resolve this

    1. Ctrl+Shift+Esc (Task Manager) > More Details at the bottom right
    2. Within 'Processes' tab, close all processes labled "Microsoft Edge" (Select and click End Task)
    3. Win+R and type "%localappdata%\Microsoft
    4. Rename Edge to EdgeOld
    5. Open Edge again and re-import favourites

Disabling random options like graphics acceleration is not how you resolve problems, this is how you create more problems.
