Ok - This morning I opened Edge (w10) and when I clicked the X to close, it would not close. I tried to minimise and click close, still would not work. I can only close it via task manager or rebooting. Nothing has chnaged since last night, so no idea why it has happened. Is there a simple answer as in apps both uninstall and modify are grayed out.
The PC is mine, not a work one and is W10.

PS - Just tried with my w10 laptop, am able to close edge as normal. So have no idea why the desktop is playing up. Is there a solution?

I am having the same issue. Microsoft Edge is out of control. It won't close when I click the X. I have to use task manager everytime.
Dear Microsoft, everyone hates edge and noone uses it.
It was the "Use graphics acceleration when available" option that did it for me. I disabled it and then re-enabled it and now Edge can close. I first noticed this last week so I assume it's related to an update considering how many are having this problem.

The only one i had on was graphics acceleration and after turning it off and restarting browser, all works fine now
