Ok - This morning I opened Edge (w10) and when I clicked the X to close, it would not close. I tried to minimise and click close, still would not work. I can only close it via task manager or rebooting. Nothing has chnaged since last night, so no idea why it has happened. Is there a simple answer as in apps both uninstall and modify are grayed out.
The PC is mine, not a work one and is W10.

PS - Just tried with my w10 laptop, am able to close edge as normal. So have no idea why the desktop is playing up. Is there a solution?

I gave Edge a few days off and now it works fine. Don't know what fixed it. I have turned hardware acceleration, startup boost and various other quality of life settings back on, and things remain fine for now.
Can we bump this to the top of the thread. This worked instantly for me (well, one of the changes required a restart of the browser, but other than that...)
Turning off acceleration worked for me too. Did not have to turn of anything else. This is a very recent problem, so obviously a bug that Microsoft needs to fix.

Turn OFF the 'Use graphics acceleration when available'.
1 Click three dots at top right
2 Click settings
3 Click System and performance
4 Click System
