Edge will not close - any help please?

Ok - This morning I opened Edge (w10) and when I clicked the X to close, it would not close. I tried to minimise and click close, still would not work. I can only close it via task manager or rebooting. Nothing has chnaged since last night, so no idea why it has happened. Is there a simple answer as in apps both uninstall and modify are grayed out.

The PC is mine, not a work one and is W10.

Keith

PS - Just tried with my w10 laptop, am able to close edge as normal. So have no idea why the desktop is playing up. Is there a solution?

I turned off the options that LarryRich1 listed above, use Task Manager to force close Edge. Then when I reopened it, I clicked on "Load Default pages" and then the X closed the window normally.

At the bottom of the browser settings list select More Tools then "Close Microsoft Edge". Then try to close normally from the tabs. If that alone doesn't work to restore normal closing, reset Edge first then from settings "Close Microsoft Edge". Just resetting Edge alone didn't work for me.

whilst the so called fix also worked for me - you have defo hit the nail on the head. We shouldn t be messing about in settings in order for Edge to behave itself.
