Opening and reading PDF files in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11

The most recent update to Microsoft Edge (133.0.3065.51), now puts a frame/box around text when adding text to a pdf. How to remove this? It doesn't appear to be an accessibility setting.

Hi KBRWU
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
Based on your description, I understand that you have found that Microsoft Edge (133.0.3065.51) adds a frame around the text when adding text to a PDF, and I understand how you feel!
Please allow me to explain that I am just a support person on the forums and not a member of the Microsoft Edge development team.
Thank you very much for your feedback my friend, I see that there are very many users with the same problem.
So I immediately tested it via my laptop and reproduced the issue without any problem.
But the good news is that I found a solution to this problem.
Here is a distribution step I wrote.
Because in my test environment, I enabled this setting and the problem disappeared.
As shown:
Assuming that there are users who have enabled the “New PDF Viewer” feature in their settings, we can also try to disable it to see if the problem still exists.
I sincerely hope that the above information and programs will help you! Please feel free to contact me if you have any problems or still can't solve them. (Photos related to the question would be great!).
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Best Regards

Hi Arthur.
Thanks for the tip. Disabling the New PDF option does not get rid of the box around added text. Enabling the New PDF option does get rid of the box around added text, but it creates a couple new problems with text that is already entered into the document into text fields built into the document (not text added to the document via the Add Text function).
With New PDF option enabled
Firstly, if there is a text field built into the document (such as the PDFs I am using), the text boxes added by the Add Text function cannot be selected unless the Add Text button is clicked if the text box is encapsulated by the text field built into the document. Also, in the text field built into the document, the original font changes to Arial when this text is selected - this makes entering text and formatting paragraphs difficult. Enabling the new PDF option can also affect the existing paragraph formatting in text fields built into the document from before the option is enabled.
Is there a way to ONLY remove the text box borders without affecting the rest of the document?
I have tired all that you have suggested (and appreicate you trying to help) but unfortunately the problem still persists. I am at a loss and now having to look for other PDF editing programs- I mainly need the ability to freely (and easily) add text boxes to a preset template PDF- Acrobat sucks and takes me forever when initally with Edge I could get a document done in minutes.
I also have the same issue as Katie.
I'm on 133.0.3065.59 and using a Mac M1, if that is relevant.
Hi, I share the same problem with Katie. I tried resetting but still can't see the NEW PDF option and the box still remains. Any help is appreciated!
