Status Access Violation issues

Hi,

Back in November 2024 I thought the issue was fixed after I reset the BIOS, but the issue started happening again, and I just tried the Processs Lasso solution you just posted. I am gonna keep an eye on the PC and see if this fixs it.

My i5 9th gen has only 6 cores, I deselect 3 of them, and I hope this finally solves this problem.

Yeah. Since posting my message about the BIOS fix, I've had a Status Access Violation exactly one more time. Astronomically better than before where it happened every few minutes. But it sounds like I too might have some permanent damage from the last 6 months of acting up.

I finally fixed this issue. If you have a 13th or 14th gen Intel, you might have the same problem as I did. The final solution was to update the motherboard BIOS to a firmware that includes a "Microcode 0x12B" update.

My motherboard is MSI and the update came out in November. Hopefully your model has something similar.

You can tell Lasso which cores to use it on, and which processes to use it on. Just select the processes from its big list, and set CPU Affinity.

I have found it best to just define one Affinity list using Options -> CPU -> CPU Affinities, and then right click on a process (or select multiple) and use that predefined one.

When you're setting CPU Affinity, you can choose Current or Always.

Current means Lasso will keep it like that until the process goes away (or your PC is rebooted).

Always means that Lasso will cleverly remember to use it for that process always, whenever it is active (even on different PC boots).

Note that you can highlight many processes (or even all of them with Ctrl-A) and set CPU Affinity for all at once.

(This will not work for low level Windows and system processes though, but it does capture everything else.)

I've found I only really need to use it for some browser sessions.
