I have a problem with printing from the latest version of Microsoft Edge. When I select some text on the browser and choose Print → 'Save As Pdf', the download starts but never finishes. How can I fix this? Is this a common issue for all the users of the latest version of Edge?

I have tried restating the PC, Resetting the browser, stopping all the extension etc. to fix it. but it doesn't work? Should I switch to Chrome?

    A solid workaround for this is to switch from "Save as PDF" and use the "Microsoft Print to PDF" virtual printer until they fix this.

    I can confirm that with "Microsoft Edge Canary" the "Save as PDF" works, and that the PDF is editable.

    You can install the Microsoft Edge Canary from here: Become a Microsoft Edge Insider | Microsoft Edge

    The Microsoft Edge Canary gets installed side-by-side with the Microsoft Edge public version, so you can continue to use the stable version for all the other functionality and print in PDF with the Canary version.

    Alternatively, you can install Google Chrome and use that one to print in PDF format.

    @mcp59

    I have found a fix/workaround in copying and renaming the CRDOWNLOAD file from xxx.crdownload to xxx.pdf. This seems to work and keeps it searchable.

    @BoeFamily8874

    Save as PDF
    In file explorer I see "Unconfirmed xxxxx.crdownload" copy and rename to "filename.pdf".
    The renamed file will open as an OCR pdf file.

    then Cancel and delete download file in EDGE browser.
    File explorer will still show "Unconfirmed xxx.crdownload" in Recent history - the file does not exist - it may be "removed from Recent".

    What a pain.

    Windows 11 23H2, EDGE Version 120.0.2210.61 (Official build) (64-bit)

    That is interesting. When I tried to do that a couple of days ago Windows did not let me rename the file. Closing Edge so that the file was freed up also deleted the file.

    What worked for me was to make a copy of the xxx.crdownload file and I was able to rename the copy.

    I guess it is a pain in the **** until Microsoft fixes the problem.

    That didn't work with the files from "Save as PDF" that got me off on this tangent. In fact the first thing I tried was to change the file extension to PDF. No Joy!

    Similar issue here. I use Microsoft Print to PDF from Edge browser about 50+times daily, so this is a very big issue for me. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the PDF printer, which didnt work either. Print to PDF shows 100%, Whn selected in Edge, it just shows "will open when download complete" but it never finishes. Files also only show up as "Unconfirmed Download" in my folders.

    I need this sorted asap, since I am unable to complete my daily tasks without this function - i am currently making screenshots.
