iCloud.com encountered an error while trying to connect to the server

I get the pop-up that says "iCloud encountered an error connecting to the server". However, if I connect to a mobile hotspot, iCloud works without any issue on Edge!

Observations

  • I am able to access iCloud through my iOS device (iPhone) connected to the same high-speed broadband Wifi connection.
  • iCloud.com is accessible on Edge browser only if my PC is connected to the internet via a mobile (4G/5G) hotspot connection.
  • The issue does not occur at all on Firefox (irrespective of the connection mode)!

Any clues on how to solve this issue? Looks like it's an Edge issue on Windows 11 when connected to a broadband Wifi connection.

Hey,

I'm just here to confirm that disabling IPv6 helped me resolve this issue.

Alternatively, switching to Google Public DNS also resolved the issue as per users on Reddit. To know step-by-step instruction to switch to Google Public DNS check out this guide -- <link removed>

    Good morning,

    So it works in my Win10 Surface Pro with Edge fine. It is a curious issues. When I first disabled IPv6 it affected FB connection but then started working. Others are eating Firefox isn’t working either with IPv6 enabled.

    Edge and Chrome are both built on the same underlying Chromium code base (which is an open-source web browser): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium\_(web\_browser)

    This is most likely a bug in Chromium itself, which therefore impacts both Edge and Chrome, but not Firefox (since it is built on a different code base).

    I'm also affected and can confirm everything written so far.

    Here is an additional observation:

    I have iCloud for Outlook installed to sync contacts and calendar. Interestingly - and obviously independent of browsers being used - this doesn't work via WLAN with IP6 enabled.

    Via LAN there is no sync issue at all!
