Why are links in emails automatically opening in Edge, when all other browsers have been uninstalled/deleted. I haven't changed anything so what is going on?

Having changed nothing on PC settings, why all of a sudden, are links from Outlook emails automatically opening in Edge.

I have deleted all but Google Chrome (cant seem to delete Edge), which is my default browser so nothing should be opening in any other browser, including Edge.

I do NOT want to use Edge and seems like it is choosing to open without me allowing, which surely is an inappropriate use of Microsofts abilities..

I'm Jen. I'm an independent advisor and would happily help you figure this out.

Are you experiencing this while using your Outlook desktop app? Also, did this happen after an update? It might have been changed to Microsoft Edge instead of your default browser. To change this, go to File > Options > Advanced > File and browser preferences and select your preferred browser.

    I have the same issue and followed links to change browser back to default which is chrome. I now have a message on screen "the end date you entered occurs before the start date" and of course will not allow me to make the change. I have not entered any dates so assume it is yet another hurdle to overcome before i can return to my preferred settings which were changed during an update without my knowledge. Can anyone help with this?

    This no longer works. I have updated my options to default browser as suggested, and also made sure my browser of choice (Brave) is my default in settings. I get the message from Windows Security that the link or path is blocked because of permissions. I have no idea how to fix this and I am going to not use outlook365 any longer. I also can't keep emails from popping up when all I want to do is read them in the reading pane, and I have asked for help from Microsoft several days ago, and no help. Any help from you appreciated.

    I concur with CeliaVineyard post. The problem for me started 6 months ago I believe with the update and since

    then I have tried all the suggestions in the postings and nothing works. Microsoft should fix this.
