Why are links in emails automatically opening in Edge, when all other browsers have been uninstalled/deleted. I haven't changed anything so what is going on?

Having changed nothing on PC settings, why all of a sudden, are links from Outlook emails automatically opening in Edge.

I have deleted all but Google Chrome (cant seem to delete Edge), which is my default browser so nothing should be opening in any other browser, including Edge.

I do NOT want to use Edge and seems like it is choosing to open without me allowing, which surely is an inappropriate use of Microsofts abilities..

I'm Jen. I'm an independent advisor and would happily help you figure this out.

Are you experiencing this while using your Outlook desktop app? Also, did this happen after an update? It might have been changed to Microsoft Edge instead of your default browser. To change this, go to File > Options > Advanced > File and browser preferences and select your preferred browser.

    That's what I did. Worked in December, but after repeating process after yesterday's update it didn't. I will try again today.

    I have the EXACT same problem. Click on Office 365 Outlook on a desktop and the email links open in Edge. ABSOLUTELY my default browser is Chrome.

    How do we stop this hijack. I want Outlook to open links in Chrome like it used to.

    I have been struggling with this issue for past 4 months and tried changing Outlook Advanced setup to both Edge and

    Default (only 2 options) and nothing worked. Microsoft need to fix this issue. Used to work but some update destroyed it,

    Microsoft just rolled this behavior out with their latest update. In my opinion - despicable. For decades, the default applications have been the default applications. Now Outlook can override these settings? Microsoft, I'm tired of this ****. Whatever manager decided this needs to be kicked in their privates.

    Expect more of this behavior in the future.
