Why are links in emails automatically opening in Edge, when all other browsers have been uninstalled/deleted. I haven't changed anything so what is going on?

Having changed nothing on PC settings, why all of a sudden, are links from Outlook emails automatically opening in Edge.

I have deleted all but Google Chrome (cant seem to delete Edge), which is my default browser so nothing should be opening in any other browser, including Edge.

I do NOT want to use Edge and seems like it is choosing to open without me allowing, which surely is an inappropriate use of Microsofts abilities..

Are you experiencing this while using your Outlook desktop app? Also, did this happen after an update? It might have been changed to Microsoft Edge instead of your default browser. To change this, go to File > Options > Advanced > File and browser preferences and select your preferred browser.

    The recommended solution worked after changing the Browser default 100 times and reinstalling Chrome. Thank you!

    In Windows 11, which is what I have, I go to the search glass at the lower left and enter "Default Apps" and select Brave browser. I tried to attach a screen shot but could not.

    How do I also make Brave my default browser for hyperlinks contained in emails?

    What Earl said below. Outlook somehow got it's own default browser selection apart from default applications that Microsoft has supported for a couple of decades. As I said earlier, very very tacky on Microsoft's part.

    I found the fix for mine. I use Outlook. In Outlook, there is a setting for which browser to use for links within an email. It defaults to Edge. Changed it and it was a whole new ballgame.
