When I add text to a pdf in edge, suddenly it it adding a box around the text. It doesn't show up until I hit enter. It's super annoying and I'm sure I did something to turn it on but I can't figure out how to turn it off.

  1. Open the Edge browser.
  2. Type "edge://flags" in the search bar at the top.
  3. When the page opens, type in and search for PDF.
  4. Set “New PDF Viewer” to “Enabled”.
  5. Check whether the problem still exists.

This worked for me.

I'm seeing the same issue on various computers. The version of Edge is the same (133.0.3065.51) on affected and unaffected systems.

Here is what it looks like: Broken

Here is what it should look like: Working

Resetting Edge does not resolve the issue.

Hi I have reset settings and the border persists. I cannot use another PDF reader as it is a work computer. Isn't there something in settings to remove this unwanted border???

    Thanks

    Sarah

This is clearly not a case of accidentally changing a setting since so many are suddenly having the same issue in the last few days. One fix is listed in this thread, to enable the experimental new PDF viewer. But it says on this page, "By enabling these features, you could lose browser data or compromise your security or privacy." Not worried about the data but security and privacy are important. So is there a safer fix?
