When I add text to a pdf in edge, suddenly it it adding a box around the text. It doesn't show up until I hit enter. It's super annoying and I'm sure I did something to turn it on but I can't figure out how to turn it off.

  1. Open the Edge browser.
  2. Type "edge://flags" in the search bar at the top.
  3. When the page opens, type in and search for PDF.
  4. Set “New PDF Viewer” to “Enabled”.
  5. Check whether the problem still exists.

This worked for me.

I'm seeing the same issue on various computers. The version of Edge is the same (133.0.3065.51) on affected and unaffected systems.

Here is what it looks like: Broken

Here is what it should look like: Working

Resetting Edge does not resolve the issue.

Same issue, suddenly Edge decides to draw boxes around annotated text in PDF viewer, never did this before. I didn't change any settings other then it just happens after the last Edge update. Resetting Edge like suggested doesn't work (as mentioned by others), fix this please as this is really annoying and I've been relying on this tool to do my work.
I'm gonna need to search for another application that can do what I need now. :-(

I also use the built-in PDF viewer for work (due to it working with every font I've come across without issue) and the box around "add text" that started popping up a few days ago is extremely unwelcome. Not only is it unwanted, but it's also implemented very poorly - the box touches the letters making i's and l's hard to read and there's no formatting settings to change the color, thickness, or opacity. If we're going to be forced to have borders, at least make them function well...
