Full page McDonalds ads keep popping up when I open a page from the main Edge screen. how can I get this to stop. I've tried everything that has been suggested online. Still no dice.

OMG, obviously the idiots at McDonald's took it that you were referring to some issues in or with their own web site; NOT their ads popping up in various browsers for some Users on some computers. Nor does the useless response relate to the question or issue, actually, raised.

And, equally, obviously, when this is showing up in various browsers, the cause and problem is rooted with McD's, not those browsers and not Microsoft or Windows.

Good someone (you) tried, certainly, not good their dumb misunderstanding nor the dumb reply from them.

Drew - I started getting this ad after I stopped at a McDonalds for the first time in years. Maybe you just don't go to McDonalds, or one with the self order kiosk that probably has a wy to broadcast this horrible popup onto a phone that syncs to your computer. One thing I will never do again is actually visit a McDonalds, and if, after I switch to Chrome, it doesn't reappear, I will abandon Edge forever as well. None of your suggested "fixes" work, and if you have never had this annoying pop-up occur, you can't be aware of how even more frustrating it is to follow your suggestions that don't work.

Look, it is not really very fair nor even very nice to berate me for just trying to help. From the comments in a thread is has been made clear this is not an Edge specific problem or issue. Some have in Chrome and Firefox, as well. If it is (only) affecting people who have visited or made purchases at McD's, then it is McD's causing it. I keep thinking about this and what if any useful suggestions could be made. For those with MS365 subscriptions, maybe, having Microsoft Defender in addition to Windows Defender would do something. It is available for free in/with MS365.

Certainly, I am regretting I bothered to offer any assistance with this.

No one should be blaming Drew or even throwing shade, all he did was offer suggestions and it was one of those suggestions that actually led to finding out the root cause of the problem.

All that has been learned so far shows this is solely McDonalds doing this and in extension any website that allows McDonalds to advertise on their site.

Thanks to everyone for chiming in and sharing experiences to help learn how extensive this problem has become. So far from the McDonalds response I posted earlier, they either don't care or don't seem bothered by this. If more folks visited the McDonalds website (contact us) and lodged complaints; then perhaps, they might take notice of the issue.

And even though it was stated in this thread that this activity has been seen in other browsers besides and in addition to Edge, including Firefox and Chrome... the notion of 'Jumping ship' from Edge to Chrome (implying trying to blame Edge and finding 'happiness' with Chrome)... I will remind Folks that Edge and Chrome are both based on the same Chromium platform.
