Edge is sharing Chrome site logins. How do I prevent this?

Hello,

I have a site where I have two accounts. I used to be able to have one of them logged in with Edge and one with Chrome, then by running the right browser, I could be logged in with the right profile.

Now, Edge seems to have started copying the login across from Chrome, i.e. I can't separate them. Logging in on Chrome logs in with the same credentials on Edge which isn't what I want.

How do I turn this off so that each browser can log in with different credentials and stay logged in with those credentials? I've found lots of stuff about syncing my MS account across devices, but this is on one single device and two browsers that I want to be completely unrelated.

    I was having the same issue. I was logged into a site on Chrome and opened Microsoft Edge to view that site, purposely not logged in, however, Microsoft Edge automatically logged me into the site even though my password was not saved in Microsoft Edge.

    This is the setting you need to turn off:

    edge://settings/profiles/importBrowsingData/importOnLaunch (Import browser data from Google Chrome on each launch)

    This is apparently a default setting for Microsoft Edge - that you have to "know about" and have to find and "turn off". Microsoft does not make this setting known - it is just turned on by default. They need to set it where you must opt in. Hopefully they will change that.

    I have also turned off the password settings in Microsoft Edge as well to be sure I don't run into this issue again. This setting can be found here: edge://settings/passwords.

    I hope that helps. It resolved it with me.

    Hi,

    I was having the same issue.

    Edge has option to stop importing other browsers data. just turn this off.

    and issue resolved.

    This is exactly same things happenign to me. Its pulling everything including loged in session from Chrome. I think it is illegal. Microsoft is misusing windows OS to share Chrome data to Microsoft Edge. Its wasn't like this before. Everytime I log in something on Chrome, and open same site to open chrome with different user, its already logged in. How do I stop it.

    Also default programs are reverted automatically. This is very annoying.

    Yes, but I'm finding the issue persists regardless. I'm constantly being signed out of my personal gmail account in Edge and being signed into my work account instead. I just can't fathom why this is even on by default. At this point it feels like it would be easier just to go back to Chrome.

    I am facing the same issue.

    You can go to edge---setting---import browser data--turn off.

    Let me know if this worked for you

    (you'll have to reinstall edge again though!)
