Edge is sharing Chrome site logins. How do I prevent this?

Hello,

I have a site where I have two accounts. I used to be able to have one of them logged in with Edge and one with Chrome, then by running the right browser, I could be logged in with the right profile.

Now, Edge seems to have started copying the login across from Chrome, i.e. I can't separate them. Logging in on Chrome logs in with the same credentials on Edge which isn't what I want.

How do I turn this off so that each browser can log in with different credentials and stay logged in with those credentials? I've found lots of stuff about syncing my MS account across devices, but this is on one single device and two browsers that I want to be completely unrelated.

    Correct. I can see that like you are showing. Edge still uses Chrome logins, that does not prevent Edge from using Chrome sessions.

    Of course I restarted everything. The only way to stop that behaviour is to delete Edge I think.

    I manage some websites an need a login in Edge and another in Chrome. Not possible anymore.

    If you disabled this feature and this is what you see then sync should stop right then and there. Just restart the browser that's it.

    Yes it looks like there is a default setting to sync your profile from google chrome. This copies the cookies from a chrome profile into edge on start up, hence the additional logged in google accounts. Thanks to @mysterychemical for finding that.

    I deactivated it. Edge still uses Chrome cookies and logins.

    So, how to delete Edge forever?

    Solution! Please follow these simple steps (I didn't find it anywhere just used the logic that browser uses when installing and importing data from other browsers).

    1. Go to Edge Settings.
    2. Go to Import Browser Data.
    3. On Option Google Chrome, there is Edit Preferences. Go there and just Turn Off that feature OFF.

    That's it.

    Note - This is a handy feature to be able to sync with other browsers(especially Google Chrome). But, turning it ON by default and no any notification to the Edge users that Sync is ON is a bummer from Microsoft side.
