How to revert back to the old version of EDGE

Has anyone had a problem using this method. I dont want to end up with a mess.

You can eliminate it temporarily this way BUT IT WILL BE BACK!!!! I was guided through this method of removal by tech support and two days later it was back on my computer. MS has lost my business as they did not give me  notification beforehand that they were going to force an unwanted and unnecessary edge update on me that made me unable to use my computer for 30 mins just as I needed to log on for work. There are problems with it in that the font is uneven - some of a letter is dark and some is light - A STRAIN ON THE EYES TO READ - it looks like italics. I have spent hours on the phone with agents and because no agent gave me a case number it can't be escalated. They only propose taking total control of my computer to get rid of it so it won't come back - I said no as it would compromise my security. I was told by an agent when I complained a few days ago that they have had problems since rolling this out a few weeks ago.

Here are the main reasons why APPLE will be my next operating system:

MS never notified me that they would be doing this kind of update. 

MS never gave me a choice if I wanted this or not and what the benefits were- I didn't want any new features - I would have said NO.

If I HAD CHOSEN to get it they should have given me the ability to do it at a time of my choosing so as not to tie up my computer when I'm supposed to start work.

I can't believe a large publicly traded company would treat its customers this way. I can't get my money back for this operating system but MS will never get another cent of my money.

I am sorry, That never shows on my computer. You must be using the new Microsoft computer which no one has. That is not a real screen shot of an actual computer.

Uninstall Edge Chromium by using 'Apps and Features' via the Control Panel.

If you cannot uninstall Edge using 'Apps and Features' use the PowerShell command-line. (See previous posts).

My previous posts described how to uninstall Edge Chromium for the current user, (even if Uninstall is greyed-out in 'Apps and Features').

The Registry setting, (copied from the 'Blocker Toolkit'), prevented Edge Chromium from automatically updating. (This Registry setting is optional. See Reference Notes below. )

Suggested Next Steps ...

When 'Windows Update' installed Edge Chromium on your Laptop, it also created and updated any Shortcuts and Pinned items that belonged to Edge Legacy and conformed them for use with Edge Chromium, so they will no longer work if you uninstall Edge Chromium!

If at any time in the proceedings you wish to check the functionality of these Shortcuts and Pinned items, do a local search for Edge using Cortana and then try running it.

Guidance on how to remove any redundant Pinned items and Shortcuts in the Start Menu can be found here ...

When you're content with the version of Edge that runs, pin it to the Taskbar.

Note :

This whole process of having functional Shortcuts and Pinned items can be left until you're happy with the version of Edge that is installed.

Just be sure not to use them, rather, do a local search for Edge using Cortana and then try running it.

If Edge Chromium has ever installed itself onto your laptop and you cannot remove it by using 'Apps and Features', then to get access to Edge Legacy again, apply the Edge 'Side-by-Side' Registry fix AFTER Edge Chromium has been uninstalled.

This Registry fix allows for Edge Legacy and Edge Chromium to co-exist.

So to sum up, when Edge Chromium cannot be removed using 'Apps and Features', the process is ...

uninstall Edge Chromium using PowerShell, apply the Edge 'Side-by-Side' Registry fix and then reinstall Edge Chromium.

You may need to install the Beta version of Edge Chromium.

Install Edge Chromium, (Beta or other versions) from ...

Edge Beta, (Chromium) will only have slight differences to Edge Stable, (Chromium).

These differences will be automatically corrected/updated every 6 weeks.
