How to Uninstall/Reinstall Edge

Edge keeps crashing in Windows 11. I have already tried quite a few troubleshooting steps suggested here and it's still not fixed. The last suggestion I received before reinstalling Windows is to reinstall Edge. (Not repair/reinstall from the Add/Remove Programs menu, I've already tried that). I did this but it doesn't look like it worked. When I opened Edge after the reinstall all my tabs re-opened and I just don't think the reinstall worked correctly. Is there a way to uninstall Edge completely and then reinstall it? The option is grayed out in the Remove programs menu.

    I realize this is a dated article... I am trying to uninstall and reinstall Edge - have suddenly started experiencing odd issues. I run the script as suggested using PowerShell. I am not receiving any errors however I am instantly returned to the prompt and nothing appears to have happened. Have the setup.exe parameters changed in the latest versions of Edge? The new Application sub-directory is now "131.0.2903.112".

    I have found that booting into windows safe mode allows me to delete all of Microsoft edge (folders are in C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft). While this is technically not the "right" way, it does allow you to remove it (even in file explorer)!

    From my guru tech -

    Did everything up to the PowerShell part, that errored out for me

    So, I had to search for setup.exe (it was in a Microsoft WoW directory) and copy it to the 'Application' directory.

    Then I deleted all folders within the Program File (x86)/Microsoft/Edge directory (including the Edge directory).

    Then I went to Apps and Features and ran a repair on Edge. It had to download it clean and it worked!

    UPDATE 11/22/2024 - Microsoft looks like they fixed their problem with Edge version *.63 being installed today.

    Hi,

    If I were you, I'd run the System File Checker with the /scannow option to see if it will fix the Edge installation for you. If you can, go check this post out for instructions on how to fix it from a Powershell command prompt:
