Troubleshooting browser crashes or performance issues on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Microsoft Edge keeps closing soon after opening. This is occurring after their most recent update was automatically installed around 2/10/2023. Why is this occurring?

hi i had all these problems and more, this is the only thing that worked for me. 1. open file explorer to C:\Users*username*\AppData\Local folder.
navigate to the microsoft folder; C:\Users*username*\AppData\Local\Microsoft
This will reset Edge to a default new profile startup; if your information is synced to Microsoft; the shortcuts and links and passwords will be restored from the Internet based on the last time it was synced up.
i used this from someone elses thread (i dont know how to leave a link from it) after days of searching and trying everything this was the only thing that worked. hope it helps.
Just out of curiosity did my powershell fix not work? I used it on all of our PCs and have not had the issue reoccur since. It should fix it for every user on the PC rather than just the current user.
Thank you Thank you..... I sure looks like this process has helped with Edge. It is not exiting, and it seems to not be opening new windows whenever I click on an option.
Hope it helps others.
Just had a similar issue occur when setting up a new laptop for a user. Using Event Viewer, I traced the issue down to what I believe is a sync error. Possibly related to SharePoint? Not certain.
The fix was actually quite simple in this case.
Hopefully this will be useful to someone!
Another update... the file that seems to always be present and also fixes the issue when deleted is "MANIFEST-000001". So the new powershell command would be:
Remove-Item "C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Sync Data\LevelDB\MANIFEST-000001" -Force
Deleting this OR any .ldb file OR the 00003.log file seems to fix it but the MANIFEST-000001 file is the only one that's always there making this a more consistent fix.
