Chromium & Chrome Will Not Save Passwords After 2004 Update

Edge Chromium will not save passwords I have imported from Firefox after the 2004 update and that goes for Chrome as well. They are removed after a restart, or wake from sleep and now I have discovered that after I import passwords from Firefox and I verify they are there then close Edge wait several minutes then open it they are removed again.  This is ridiculous to have to deal with and it did not happen until I installed the buggy 2004 update. Thank god my Firefox was not screwed up with this update.

Update: The only resolution I have found to solve this problem was to make a new admin user profile for myself on my desktop computer and I made a new admin user profile for my wife on her laptop. Once I did this the problem with Edge not showing passwords that I had imported from my Firefox browser was solved. I now do not need to sign in to my MS account in Edge to see or use my saved passwords. I have since uninstalled Google Chrome from my browser as I see no need to clutter my computer with two chromium browsers. I use Firefox as my default browser and Edge as my backup browser.

    Signing in just to use my Outlook 2010 or  Excel or Word is something I  have never done until update 2004 came along.

    I signed in only to make a change to a password.

    However, after update 2004 you will know everything has to  be re-entered.

    What I am also noticing is that the MS bug in the system is actually deleting my saved Outlook pop password, so this has to be re-entered everytime I log in.

    I have tried adding details to Credential Manager but again these seem to get deleted. I have many passwords shown under Web Credentials and email passwords under Windows Credentials but they are all inactivate.

    I am upto date to KB4592438 

    I guess I just have to put up with all these bugs until MS gets its act together.

    OK I have accessed Task Scheduler Library and could not find anything referencing passwords, or indeed anything which was shown as being 'disabled' or not ready.

    It's not that there's anything wrong with any particular scheduled task. The PowerShell script would have shown you any that run with S4U authentication, which I think is enabled by selecting Do not store password in the Task Scheduler UI. There's no objection to this ordinarily; it's just that when a task like this runs in Windows 10 2004 and later, it breaks Windows password encryption. Tasks that have been identified are HP updates and Carbonite backups, although there may be many others. There's also evidence that disabling the offending task may not be enough; it might have to be deleted.  If you're quite sure you don't have any innocent-looking tasks like these, something else and unknown is afoot.

    One last point that you may have missed: this fault is only known to affect those who sign in to Windows with a local account. Those who sign in with a Microsoft Account are apparently unaffected. How do you sign in? Switch from a local account to a Microsoft account

    It's a good job you replied when you did: I was half-way through composing a reply suggesting it was time to re-install Windows*, since PowerShell, Task Scheduler and DISM all seemed to be broken. I'm glad that now doesn't seem to be necessary.

    Please open Task Scheduler again. I see from your earlier screenshot (sorry for not noticing before) that you hadn't opened the Task Scheduler Library before looking for S4U tasks. Dismiss the error message about FeedSync if you see it again, and maximize the window before clicking on Task Scheduler Library in the left-hand pane. Then go hunting for tasks with Do not store password enabled. 

    * One reason for my hesitating to suggest this was that there was a bug in a November update (19042.630?) that meant it wasn't possible to do an in-place upgrade and keep personal files. This was soon corrected, and I see you're already up to 19042.685, so that's no longer a problem.

    Having downloaded the latest 20H2 update this morning remembering cookies or passwords still not working.
