360 videos in WMR not working

Hello,

I'm having issues with the new Microsoft edge playing 360/vr videos in WMR. First of all, to get an option to play vr video I have to go through that app "360 videos" in the cliff house. Finding a 360 video via youtube in edge directly doesn't work because the goggle icon on the bottom of the screen is missing. However, if I start any of the offered 360 videos via the cliff house 360 video app, that opens youtube video in the edge, and now the goggle icon is present. This allows me to play VR videos, but really this doesn't work either because the videos are very choppy. I did not have this issue prior to the new edge installation. I'm using Samsung Odyssey+. Any suggestions to solve this issue?

After looong trial and error,.....

Start with a reboot, Googles HDMI connected, USB disconnected (after completed boot),....plug in Goggles (USB), .......

Make sure Mixed Reality Portal NOT running and controllers are not connected to your computer (bluetooth)

On Desktop, run Microsoft Edge> go to youtube select a 360 video, you'll see the Goggle Icon , click it to enter VR,

now Mixed Reality Portal will start, ....put on your Goggles and enjoy the video.

After that you can select any other 360 video and it will work as long as all control stays with the desktop.

REPEAT:

All control has to stay with the desktop, otherwise it will not work.

Controllers have to stay disconnected, otherwise it will throw you back into the Cliff House

Hope this helps, and please,.....Microsoft,.....GET IT FIXED !!!

My setup:

Samsung Odyssey+

Win 10 v21H1 (Os Build 19043.1055), i7-9750H, Nvidia RTX 2060, 32GB

(All latest Drivers)

    Do you have a G2 Reverb? A new cable was released for that a month or 2 ago, everybody could exchange their old cable for the new cable for free. The new cable has a larger box on it and now has an on/off switch. I solves a lot of connection issues people had with the G2.

    It's the only thing that changed on my system between Edge Youtube not working and working so I wondered if that could have anything to do with it..

    Hi Warrie

    Only got my VR 2 months ago but I guess I must have the old cable because it doesn't have an on/off button

    Will try and exchange that If I can only figure out the product Serial number and Product code (grrr there is one on the headset, one on the box and a different one on the warranty card. rtied them all an no luck)

    Guess I'll try and chat with HP Support, get a new cable and try this.

    Hi Michael, yes then you have the old cable. The new cable is much improved. The serialnumber is the one inside your headset when you remove the gasket. It's extremely small, I had to make some pictures with my phone and enlarge them to be able to read it :) Also the 0 and O almost look exactly the same. But I also read the HP site has issues with reading some serial numbers so easiest to do is call HP support indeed. Best of luck!

    I have an HP Reverb G2 with the V2 cable but I still get the four spinning balls when I try to play a Youtube VR video. If I restart WMR it then the video does play, but it is in 2D instead of 3D. It doesn't seem to get a separate left eye view and right eye view even for videos that say they are 3D VR180.
