360 videos in WMR not working

Hello,

I'm having issues with the new Microsoft edge playing 360/vr videos in WMR. First of all, to get an option to play vr video I have to go through that app "360 videos" in the cliff house. Finding a 360 video via youtube in edge directly doesn't work because the goggle icon on the bottom of the screen is missing. However, if I start any of the offered 360 videos via the cliff house 360 video app, that opens youtube video in the edge, and now the goggle icon is present. This allows me to play VR videos, but really this doesn't work either because the videos are very choppy. I did not have this issue prior to the new edge installation. I'm using Samsung Odyssey+. Any suggestions to solve this issue?

After looong trial and error,.....

Start with a reboot, Googles HDMI connected, USB disconnected (after completed boot),....plug in Goggles (USB), .......

Make sure Mixed Reality Portal NOT running and controllers are not connected to your computer (bluetooth)

On Desktop, run Microsoft Edge> go to youtube select a 360 video, you'll see the Goggle Icon , click it to enter VR,

now Mixed Reality Portal will start, ....put on your Goggles and enjoy the video.

After that you can select any other 360 video and it will work as long as all control stays with the desktop.

REPEAT:

All control has to stay with the desktop, otherwise it will not work.

Controllers have to stay disconnected, otherwise it will throw you back into the Cliff House

Hope this helps, and please,.....Microsoft,.....GET IT FIXED !!!

My setup:

Samsung Odyssey+

Win 10 v21H1 (Os Build 19043.1055), i7-9750H, Nvidia RTX 2060, 32GB

(All latest Drivers)

    Hi All, just did a bit of diagnostics and I don’t think the issue is with Edge. Thanks to Warrie for pointing out this recall from HP -https://www.reddit.com/r/HPReverb/comments/oyk6xd/revision_2_of_the_reverb_g2_cable_and_all_the/  

    I think the problem appears to be with the HP Reverb USB cable.

    On my PC I have 2 x USB-C ports. One at the back of the PC (part of the motherboard) the other on top of the PC case and connected to the Motherboard.

    When I connect the HP Reverb USB-C port to the PC Case port, and watch a Youtube 3d video, I get the 4 bouncing balls. Note the sound is working fine in this scenario and come out of the HP Reverb

    Now I tried to connect the HP Reverb to the USB-C port at the back of the PC (directly into the motherboard). Watching the same Youtube 3d video works fine (no 4 rotating balls). I tried this multiple times and every time the video starts fine. Only issue with this port is that Windows Mixed reality sound is not coming out of the HP reverb as it is not recognising the USB-C for sound.

    I’ve raised a case with HP and they’re kindly replacing my USB cable

    It would be good if someone can try and confirm this diagnosis - ie if you have 2 or more USB-C ports, what is your experience if you connect the HP Reverb to each of these?

    I read on the G2 reddit-sub also that others still have the issue with Canary :-/ Also - I swear I thought I had stereoscopic when I tested some videos but this morning I tested it and the same as you, 180VR vids are in 2D. When I download the same video and play it with Skybox it is in 3D.

    I have an HP Reverb G2 with the V2 cable but I still get the four spinning balls when I try to play a Youtube VR video. If I restart WMR it then the video does play, but it is in 2D instead of 3D. It doesn't seem to get a separate left eye view and right eye view even for videos that say they are 3D VR180.
