360 videos in WMR not working

Hello,

I'm having issues with the new Microsoft edge playing 360/vr videos in WMR. First of all, to get an option to play vr video I have to go through that app "360 videos" in the cliff house. Finding a 360 video via youtube in edge directly doesn't work because the goggle icon on the bottom of the screen is missing. However, if I start any of the offered 360 videos via the cliff house 360 video app, that opens youtube video in the edge, and now the goggle icon is present. This allows me to play VR videos, but really this doesn't work either because the videos are very choppy. I did not have this issue prior to the new edge installation. I'm using Samsung Odyssey+. Any suggestions to solve this issue?

After looong trial and error,.....

Start with a reboot, Googles HDMI connected, USB disconnected (after completed boot),....plug in Goggles (USB), .......

Make sure Mixed Reality Portal NOT running and controllers are not connected to your computer (bluetooth)

On Desktop, run Microsoft Edge> go to youtube select a 360 video, you'll see the Goggle Icon , click it to enter VR,

now Mixed Reality Portal will start, ....put on your Goggles and enjoy the video.

After that you can select any other 360 video and it will work as long as all control stays with the desktop.

REPEAT:

All control has to stay with the desktop, otherwise it will not work.

Controllers have to stay disconnected, otherwise it will throw you back into the Cliff House

Hope this helps, and please,.....Microsoft,.....GET IT FIXED !!!

My setup:

Samsung Odyssey+

Win 10 v21H1 (Os Build 19043.1055), i7-9750H, Nvidia RTX 2060, 32GB

(All latest Drivers)

    Hi MichaelAnotonios,

    Beside Chromium browser is not working for you, everything else works? Flight Sim, Beat Saber, other VR app?

    Well now I'm confused.

    I tried to run some of the tests Phulems suggested, and now I cannot play Youtube VR on my HP Reverb no matter what I do. I tried diffent USB-C ports, enabling and disabling the Realtek audio driver from the BIOS. Nothing is working. Yesterday it was all working fine Grrrrr

    This is sooo flaky there is no pattern and so many variables to trouble shooting this :(

    My next course of action is to wait until I get the new cable from HP and hope it makes a difference.

    Hi MichaelAntonios,

    Thanks for the info. So what happens if you try: plug HP Reverb into USB-C port on PC case (not in the back) and disable RealTek audio, would WebXR work? it sounds like the USB port config makes a difference, not the RealTek.

    Also, when you plug in the back USB port where WebXR is not working (4 spinning dots), then would FS2020 work? any other app works in VR? only Edge is not working correctly?

    Sure Warrie good idea.

    PS. Here is an update on my 2 scenarios

    A few folks on Reddit have posted that if you have an AMD Motherboard (as in my case), you can disable the RealTek audio on the Motherboard.

    So I did that, then plugged the HP Reverb into the USB-C port on the PC Case (not the one on the back of my PC which is directly connected to the MotherBoard). I then connected WMR and played a 3D youtube video and it worked. Sound is also coming from the HP Reverb.

    To make sure this is not a 1-off coincident, I played my favourite VR game (FS2020) and no issues with the VR. I then went back to WMR and played another 3D youtube video and its working.

    So here is my take on this issue.... This 4 balls floating issue that happens when you try and play a 3D Youtube video probably has nothing to do with Edge. It is triggerd by the Motherboard setting of the RealTek audio.

    Be good if someone in this thread can try it out and see if that fixes their issue
