360 videos in WMR not working

Hello,

I'm having issues with the new Microsoft edge playing 360/vr videos in WMR. First of all, to get an option to play vr video I have to go through that app "360 videos" in the cliff house. Finding a 360 video via youtube in edge directly doesn't work because the goggle icon on the bottom of the screen is missing. However, if I start any of the offered 360 videos via the cliff house 360 video app, that opens youtube video in the edge, and now the goggle icon is present. This allows me to play VR videos, but really this doesn't work either because the videos are very choppy. I did not have this issue prior to the new edge installation. I'm using Samsung Odyssey+. Any suggestions to solve this issue?

After looong trial and error,.....

Start with a reboot, Googles HDMI connected, USB disconnected (after completed boot),....plug in Goggles (USB), .......

Make sure Mixed Reality Portal NOT running and controllers are not connected to your computer (bluetooth)

On Desktop, run Microsoft Edge> go to youtube select a 360 video, you'll see the Goggle Icon , click it to enter VR,

now Mixed Reality Portal will start, ....put on your Goggles and enjoy the video.

After that you can select any other 360 video and it will work as long as all control stays with the desktop.

REPEAT:

All control has to stay with the desktop, otherwise it will not work.

Controllers have to stay disconnected, otherwise it will throw you back into the Cliff House

Hope this helps, and please,.....Microsoft,.....GET IT FIXED !!!

My setup:

Samsung Odyssey+

Win 10 v21H1 (Os Build 19043.1055), i7-9750H, Nvidia RTX 2060, 32GB

(All latest Drivers)

    MonkeyBastard - you can launch Microsoft Edge Canary from the cliff house by:

    1. Press the Windows button to open the start menu
    2. Click "All Apps" on the right side of the start menu
    3. Click "Classic Apps"
    4. Microsoft Edge Canary should be on this list

    markberglund - what is the version number of the Edge you are using?

    am I the only one that has the crash problem when controller turned on.

    it works fine until I try to use a Bluetooth controller, no choppy video, I see the 4 balls when it is loading or headset asleep like normal.

    I will try later with a wired controller just to see.

    I appreciate the attention you are giving this issue in this thread. Thank you.

    I have downloaded Microsoft Edge Canary Version 93.0.945.0 and it is installed and the browser functions on the desktop but I do not know how to access it in the Cliff House. When I am in the Cliff House I press the "Microsoft" icon on the controller, it opens the admin panel where I can see the list of apps, but I do not know how to add Microsoft Edge Canary as an app to the admin panel. It is still only showing the old Edge. Can you please help?

    If I use Canary through the desktop icon in the cliff house, I get the same results. The video just crashes after trying to load.

    Glad to hear that the video isn't choppy with Canary - this will be pushed to stable by the Edge 93 update.

    We want to get a bit more information about your hardware setup.

    1. Is your G2 plugged into your 2080 GPU, or a port on the motherboard?
    2. Are you able to play VR games or use other Windows Mixed Reality experiences outside of the browser?
    3. Using Canary, navigate to Cube Sea (immersive-web.github.io, open a new tab (leave the WebXR tab open in the background), navigate to edge://gpu, search for "Driver Information", and copy/paste the lines containing "GPU#"? It should look something like this, but you may have a different number of lines.Image
