Troubleshooting browser crashes or performance issues on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
The new Edge browser will occasionally freeze. When this happens there is no screen control and ending the Edge process using the task manager closes the browser window bur does not release all the resources forcing me to restart the PC. This can happen on a webpage or when watching videos. Is this a known problem and has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I am running Windows 10 with the 2004 update installed, have no problems with other applications and no freezing when using Firefox or Chrome

My problem went away at the beginning of the summer with one of MS updates. I suggest updating edge, the OS and your system bios to all the latest versions.
It's September 2022 and I'm having the same issue.
Update: This is end of June. The freeze completely stopped. Others claimed that the solution did not work for them. So this may not be a fix all solution.
You can google it. Here is one link: How to Disable Hardware Acceleration on Windows 10 (softwarekeep.com)
It really fixed my problem. Others said the solution did not work for them. So I guess this is not a fix all solution.
Edge locks up my computer!
ctl+alt+delete does nothing! The only way to deal with it is to shut down computer with power button!
Anything else you hear, like disabling hardware acceleration is a bunch of hooey!
I switched back to Chrome and have no issue with computer freezing!
I wonder when Microsoft is going to fix it?
