New Microsoft Edge freezing intermittently forcing restart

The new Edge browser will occasionally freeze. When this happens there is no screen control and ending the Edge process using the task manager closes the browser window bur does not release all the resources forcing me to restart the PC. This can happen on a webpage or when watching videos. Is this a known problem and has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I am running Windows 10 with the 2004 update installed, have no problems with other applications and no freezing when using Firefox or Chrome

    The post is nearly 2 years old and yes, the problem is still NOT fixed. I am running Window 11 on a new Dell desktop. What I experienced is a little different. The Edge seemed frozen. But it actually is still running, and after 30 seconds or so, it would come back, always, which is of course still very annoying. And when it came back, it did not continue on from the point where it froze, if I was watching a video clip. It reloaded the clip and started over.

    If this problem does not go away soon, I am switching to Firebox.

    same problem, edge just closes without input from me. have to open it and start over.

    It just occurs for me when streaming video. I have not found a solution so I am going back to Chrome, I switched last week and have had no problems. I try with each update to see if its fixed.
