New Microsoft Edge freezing intermittently forcing restart

The new Edge browser will occasionally freeze. When this happens there is no screen control and ending the Edge process using the task manager closes the browser window bur does not release all the resources forcing me to restart the PC. This can happen on a webpage or when watching videos. Is this a known problem and has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I am running Windows 10 with the 2004 update installed, have no problems with other applications and no freezing when using Firefox or Chrome

    Yes, from today morning I was facing same problem. My edge sometime freezes when opening a website and switching tabs. And yes, I was playing video. but freeze never happened while watching video. It happened when i tried to open a website in new tab. The freeze happens only for 6-8 sec, after it comes back normal.

    In my case, it's freezing when I try to type something in a page. For example, to search something on wikipedia.

    yeah i have the same problem. sometimes when this happens, my windows crashes completetly and gives me an BSOD

    I have the same issue. My coworker does too. This is not an isolated issue. Clearly some process on the browser supersedes over others. I can’t run task Manager, ctrl alt del and restart, use alt f4, or run commands because I can’t open other programs.

    All I can do when I open Edge is hold the power button for several seconds to force restart.
