The new Edge browser will occasionally freeze. When this happens there is no screen control and ending the Edge process using the task manager closes the browser window bur does not release all the resources forcing me to restart the PC. This can happen on a webpage or when watching videos. Is this a known problem and has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I am running Windows 10 with the 2004 update installed, have no problems with other applications and no freezing when using Firefox or Chrome

This is not a Chrome problem I only use Chrome and its set as my default. But, when this happens I have twice been able to open task manager and found 8 instances of Edge running and you cannot close them, so a hard shutdown and reboot is necessary.
Hardware acceleration was the culprit in my case. I suspect my graphics card drivers are not cleanly implemented, as Windows Explorer (including start menu / task bar) sometimes freezes as well. (3 years old business notebook with combination of internal graphics chip plus an additional high-end GPU for performance)
Prior to the 2/8/22 update, videos would stop working and had to be refreshed when I was switching back and forth between tabs when I had multiple videos playing on different tabs (especially Twitch). It would only happen once a day maybe.
After the 2/8/22 update, The videos freeze up and Edge stops working. I still have sound, but the video freezes and I cant click anything. This occurs every 5 minutes when I have multiple tabs playing videos (i.e. Twitch, YouTube, etc.) I don't even have to be switching tabs for it to freeze now.
Its so frustrating because I like Microsoft Edge better than other programs, but its unwatchable now and I had to switch to Chrome. Chrome never freezes up while running multiple video tabs.
The problem has been long gone with a previous update to Edge.
I installed the latest update, it did not make the problem worse, but did not fix it either. I am not trouble shooting it, just waiting for a fix. I am curious, you want MS to rollback the latest update, did you have problems before the update like I have had?
