Password import edge not working

Can confirm this is still an ongoing issue with Edge using version 106.0.1370.47 (latest stable channel release). The "Import passwords" option does not produce any result when clicked. This has been checked on multiple installations and running on local machine desktops as well as Remote Desktop Session Host server environments.

This feature working would make life better for us, as we're in the middle of moving a client's users from a set of old Remote Desktop Session Host servers to a new collection running a more modern Windows Server operating system. Currently we are having to provide the exported password list CSV to our users to re-enter the passwords manually, which is not ideal as the users have control over the CSV file and may not delete it as we've advised (Not great, security-wise, as the passwords are presented in plain text within the CSV file).

Can any representative from Microsoft provide any indication as to when this feature will be working? It seems quite odd for an option to be visible in a stable release of a product, only to find said feature does nothing.

In Edge, settings -> profiles -> Import browser data ->Import from other password managers -> Import passwords. Looks like there is an option for CSV import and it opens up a dialog box that allows for selecting your csv.

Thankyou for your contribution. That solution was proposed by someone else in this thread and worked for some people but didn't for other. I didn't work for me: dialog opens, I can select a CSV file and open it, then Edge informs that passwords were imported but the reality is that they weren't

OK, so I managed to use a workaround. Edge does import from Chrome, so

1. go to passwords.google.com and import the passwords that are in the CSV file.
2. allow Chrome on the dekstop time to sync the passwords stored in the cloud
3. import from Chrome into Edge

There is one downside. Given that passwords are meant to be secure, one aspect of this security is to NOT replicate entries all over the place. In order to achieve the migration, I had to replicate the passwords into Google's password manager and the manager does not provide an easy single step "delete all" passwords (assuming you sync across multiple Chrome installations) after you have transferred.

Instead you have to do the following (taken from here):

1. Go to https://www.google.com/settings/chrome/sync and hit Clear Data
   1. This will disconnect syncing on all your devices temporarily and deletes passwords on the server side
2. Now you have to go device by device and bulk delete passwords
   1. On Chrome Desktop: Ctrl+Shift+Del --> Advanced --> Time Range: All time --> Select Passwords only --> Clear data
   2. On Chrome Mobile: Settings --> Privacy --> Clear Browsing Data --> Advanced --> Time range: All time --> Select Saved passwords only --> Clear data
3. After you bulk deleted passwords from the device, you can turn back on syncing: Settings --> Turn on sync on each device instance of Chrome (dekstops, mobile

Works with an export from bitwarden on android, too.
