Microsoft Edge keeps making itself the default PDF viewer instead of acrobat

This is a dup thread for one that was started in 2020. Same stuff is still happening. I'm about 5 minutes from uninstalling Edge. If my PC reboots, Edge takes over PDFs. So annoying

    I found the solution for this issue you need to turn off this settings from MS Edge by going to Settings > Cookies and site permissions > scroll down to PDF documents click on it and make sure the Always download pdf files is turned ON it's turned OFF by default once you turn it on the app default will change to pdf and it will stay and not revert back to MS Edge as the default app.

    I just wanted to say that this solution does not work. Edge forces itself to being the PDF handler.

    I will be writing a complaint to the appropriate anti-competitive body so that hopefully there is some pressure on Microsoft to fix this.

    Hi,

    I've just discovered that if you right click on the pdf document icon & select properties, you can change the default setting to whichever pdf app you want to use & it seems to change them all. You could try that way in & see if it works for you
