Microsoft Edge keeps making itself the default PDF viewer instead of acrobat

Can't find a fix and this has interfered with extremely important documents (including medical intake and treatment forms). I know how I need to open my files, Windows has no business interfering

This is not a helpful response. I have gone through these motions literally **hundreds** of times, and Edge keeps taking over PDFs from Acrobat. Something else is going on with Windows and Edge, and I have yet to see Microsoft acknowledge it.

I have also tried a number of other suggestions about how I can reset the default app from Edge to Acrobat, and none of them stick. Windows eventually works around them and makes Edge the default app. Sometimes this happens several times per day, almost always when I'm working with PDF files I downloaded from another party's Sharepoint site.

A helpful response would address the problem, not the symptom.

Lately, I have had this problem occur several times per hour. I keep switching the default app back to Acrobat, and Windows keeps switching it back to Edge. I have never seen Microsoft offer any solution other than to keep telling me how to change the default app EACH AND EVERY TIME Windows erroneously reverts to Edge. So frustrating. I'm about to uninstall Edge.

This works for me but then reverts when Edge reopens.

I've got the GPO setting, Intune, and personal setting all set to Adobe, but Edge is insistent and overwriting my settings everytime.
