Microsoft Edge keeps making itself the default PDF viewer instead of acrobat

This is a dup thread for one that was started in 2020. Same stuff is still happening. I'm about 5 minutes from uninstalling Edge. If my PC reboots, Edge takes over PDFs. So annoying

    Please, do not waste your time trying to permanently set your default PDF app. IT WILL CHANGE BACK TO MICROSOFT IN SHORT ORDER. Just accept it and change it back each time you notice - you will save aggravation. Someone somewhere will tell you the definitive way to solve this, but it is a waste of time, and will not work.

    For anyone who don’t have patience …

    Use my method and let me know if that works for you and what you like

    I simply replaced “ Microsoft edge “ file to “ adobe acrobat “ and renamed it as msedge….

    Bang

    No more MS edge , only Adobe Acrobating now …

    Thanks for trying to help.

    Here's what Menu > Preferences > General looks like: There is no "Set as Default PDF Handler."

    I ended up reaching Microsoft Support through chat & gave them remote access to my PC. I had to do an update & restart & was then able to change the default in Wondows settings/.
