SSL - Error - How to go "around" it

Forgive me if someone else already provided this solution -- there's 7 or more pages here, I don't want to go read them all :-)

In MS Edge (and Chrome), you can use the "add-on" of "IE Tab" by Blackfish

My old devices' web pages used to work with Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) back in 2022, but no longer do - I'm not sure why, but it might be from TLS group policies I had to implement, although I manually overrode those in IE yesterday and I still couldn't get to my old devices.

However, I did a new install on a laptop yesterday so I could do some admin stuff on an old device, and IE Tab said it is for a trial period.

Other people have suggested to go to archives and get very old versions of Chrome from, say, year 2016, which will likely work for you as well. However, you'll probably need to get these off a 3rd-party archival site, which could be a little risky in that the executable could include a virus. Myself, I tend to retain downloads for this very reason, so I have old installs from various years for Firefox, Chrome, etc. and various server applications. I know a lot of admins keep an old Windows XP laptop or VM around and do not update old software packages on it, for this very reason.

Some higher-level admin will argue, "it's your own fault for getting into this situation, you should have regularly upgraded your software/firmware, dummy!" But, small companies often let support contracts lapse (to save money) and then are not entitled to further updates, or a OEM goes out of business yet you still rely on the old software/hardware, well beyond end-of-life. ...Some IT people need to learn a little empathy, not everyone has a large IT budget, with numerous IT pros on staff who've been with the company for many years, and have well-documented equipment & procedures from prior IT people who've left long ago.

I was able to get this to work in Firefox by clicking the "Advanced" button and adding the exception

You can use firefox Firefox: about:config "tls" > security.tls.version.min=1. Reset to 3 after completion.

1. Install Firefox.
2. Type "About:config" in the address bar and hit return.
3. Click "Accept the risk" and continue.
4. Type "tls" in the search bar and hit return.
5. Click the pencil icon at the far right of "security.tls.version.min" to edit the cutoff setting prevening your login, which is currently 3.
6. Type "1" and hit return.
