SSL - Error - How to go "around" it

I add the same problem but, I kept trying to access my router DSR-250N with Microsoft Edge Version 120.0.2210.91 (Official build) (64-bit). I found a work around.

 Open Microsoft Edge then press (Ctrl+Shift+N) it will open (New InPrivate windows) or right-click on the browser icon on the task bar and select (New InPrivate windows) and then you can access the router by entering the IP address of the router in the address bar.

You still get the error (your connection isn't private) or ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH, but you just click on the (Advanced) Button and then click on the (Continue to (IP address of your router) (unsafe)). You will get the login screen of your router.

All newer versions of browsers may have the same problem. Newer versions of browsers have a similar (InPrivate windows) or (InPrivate) or (incognito)… etc. The instruction to access your router is the same as MS Edge explain above.

I tested: Fire fox and Google Chrome.

It worked for me.

Same issue for me on windows 11 using Chrome browser. None of the fixes here worked, I also noticed that I had the same error message on my android phone when visiting the same site so that got me thinking about commonality

The fix for me was via my ISP security settings. I use BT, (I'm in the UK) and they have Parental security settings on their broadband packages turned on by default.

I simply logged into the BT Secuity page using my BT ID and whitelisted the site that I was having issues with, it was a wine buying site, and with a refresh of the website the error disappeared.

I hope this information can help someone. It was bugging me for days.

This worked for Windows 10 Internet Explorer

Open Internet Explore

Click the Cog gear icon upper left.
Go to Internet Options

Go to Advanced

Scroll down and under the security section

Uncheck all the Use TLS, Use SSL except Use TLS 1.0 should be checked

Close Internet Explorer and reopen it.

It worked for me I hope it helps others!

Well, that wasn't my experience. Even typing down the http one would immediately redirect and give me the 'Unsupported protocol' error message. Also, I've just tried adding it to the exceptions list but that didn't work either. It seems reloading it in IE Mode is the only solution for now. That or downgrading the browser.

I'm on v98.0.1108.56 right now if you're wondering. Hopefully this gets patched or something because I've seen others having the same issue, so it's definitely not just a fluke. But thanks for reaching out anyway.

Router settings pages are usually served over HTTP, because there's little need to secure connections on your local network. A recent enhancement to Edge was the introduction of features to make browsing safer, one of which is to insist on secured connections to websites.
