New Microsoft Edge wont play HDR videos in YouTube

You can do that and the HDR options then come up on the videos, however, achieving this by forcing the color profile does not provide the same optimal hdr that native support from the edge browser provided. Sometimes the whites and the images in general are way to washed out.

Could this possibly just be a flag for a feature that isn’t yet finalized for the new Edge browser and be removed when it is? I know Microsoft took away “Hey Cortana” from Cortana with the Windows update and said it would be restored later. Maybe this was another backwards step by Microsoft?

Could be. But it has been over 5 months now..

YES EXACTLY HELLENICSUN, before the last big update i somewhat  'resolved' this by using the beta chrome entering chromeflags and using the force colour profile. but now it wont work, seems they have changed it again.

then you cant use the hdr videos in 4k 'HDR' as you said.

i have just resorted to using this and just keeping my HDR feature on all the time. 

my main problem with the thing was when i would record desktop and would have to turn off the 'hdr' off in order to get a normal picture. the reason being to get proper hdr recorded on youtube u need to get paid tools and use the correct meta data and on and on and on. so i dont bother with this.

• What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)
• What is the make and model of the PC and the display?
• Please provide us the screen shot of the HDR video playing in YouTube webpage and the changes you make in the settings of the video. (Please follow the steps mentioned in the screenshot posted by Shawn ‘Cmdr’ Keene on Oct 2, 2015 to post the screenshots.) Do not share any personal information in the screenshots.
• What is the Microsoft Edge version installed on the PC?

Legacy version of Microsoft Edge

1. Open Microsoft Edge.
2. Select Settings and more … in the upper-right corner, and then select Settings.
3. Look for your version under About this app.

The new Microsoft Edge

1. Open Microsoft Edge.
2. Select Settings and more … in the upper-right corner, and then select Settings.
3. Click on About Microsoft Edgein the lower left.
4. Look for your version number. (version should be 78.0.x or later)

I think this is not necessary. My computer is Lenovo ThankPad P72 with 4K 10 bit screen and it can play HDR video on YouTube with Edge but after I installed new edge it won't show HDR anymore.

Ah, don't bother.

I have already given them what they asked for.

This is a "I'll ask for a lot and write even more until we get someone to give us an actuall solution" reply.

We're halfway into the (pretty bad may I add) year and still no fix.
