New Microsoft Edge wont play HDR videos in YouTube

As the title describes, I cannot play/ see HDR YouTube videos - the option is not available any more from the resolution selection.

With previous Edge (prior to 15/01/2020) I could and I could also choose a higher resolution from my screen's native one.

I would like to point out also, that neither Chrome and Firefox provide such option - I really cannot understand why but my issue here is with Edge.

Yes, my screen is HDR capable.

I would highly appreciate any help into solving this matter.

    Try this:

    1. in the address bar type in edge://flags/ and press enter
    2. Scroll to find to search for "Force Color Profile" 
    3. Click the drop down and select "HDR10( HDR where available)"
    4. Click on Restart at the bottom. 

    This will fix the issue with every platform on which you stream HDR content

    This does get the HDR options to appear in the display quality options on youtube, but it's a washed out version of HDR when you do it this way, not like it used to be.

    Hi,

    How did you get the new Edge browser to give you Youtube HDR? It still doesn't work for me. And to be clear, my screen only got HDR capability from a BIOS/firmware update and only supports the HDR video streaming feature and not the WCG or HDR games/apps feature.

    How did you get the new edge browser to give you Youtube HDR? Still doesn't work for me. And to be clear, my laptop screen only got HDR capability with a bios/firmware update and only supports HDR video streaming and not the WCG or HDR games and apps.

    I also facing this problem. To force color profile to HDR was looks great for Youtube HDR videos content BUT it also makes the SDR content too dark as well. How I can fix this please??

    To watch Netflix, I used the Store application and this working perfectly, the movies are stream as HDR (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D to checked this) but from the Edge browser is NOT HDR.

    Wish I could help you.

    So far Microsoft avoids providing any solutions/ suggestions and for me, that means they're aware of the issue and do whatever they have to.

    ..and yes, latest 81.0.416.72 doesn't fix the issue.
