Updated to new version of Edge a couple weeks ago and am looking for a way to 'downgrade' to the old version... or recommendations for a non-chromium based, secure browser.
Why? Because the 'Resolving Host' delay that Edge is now performing on just about EVERY web page is driving me nuts. Delays page loading by 2 - 10 seconds on EVERY PAGE. How is that better?
I've tried clearing Edge's cache, Windows cache, changing dns to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 and to the two IP's specified by my ISP (in addition to relying on my router's handling of DNS), rebooting modem+router/PC. Nothing has helped.
Any other suggestions? Perhaps point me down a better path?

Firefox - 95% of the time the destination page begins loading IMMEDIATELY... just like Edge 1.0 used to do. With little or no pauses during page 'painting'. (Again, just like Edge 1.0.)
New Edge AND Chrome - Both during initial retrieving of the page (sometimes as much as 8 seconds) as well as during page 'painting' (1-4 second pauses), the browser will show 'Resolving Host' in the lower left corner.
Browser cache was cleared prior to every page load. Tests were run Firefox then Edge and Chrome as well as Edge and Chrome then Firefox.
This is also not an isolated case.
We are considering whether or not to move from Edge 1 to New Edge at my company (200 computers). Our testing there shows that it is also noticeably slower, also showing a 'waiting for cache' as opposed to 'Resolving Host.'

I'm copying my Google Chrome troubleshooting from my post to Chrome community forums because now Edge 2.0 does the same exact thing.
For weeks google Chrome tabs are slow to load and the tab icon spins for seconds to many minutes. The notice in the bottom left of my screen continues to state "resolving host"
I have Windows 10 version 1909 with latest patches, Chrome with latest patches
I have scanned for viruses and malware through Avast and Malwarebytes
I have followed directions to delete internet cache and cookies
I have removed all chrome extensions
I have tried opening chrome in incognito mode and it doesn't help
I have uninstalled/reinstalled google Chrome
I have disabled Malwarebytes and Avast
I have Comcast internet and DNS is hard coded into the router and can't be changed
I've tried networking troubleshooting steps from a Microsoft support site:
netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset, ipconfig /release /renew /flushdns
I've tried running windows network troubleshooter wizard - result "troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem"
I disabled IPV6 in network properties. This was a solution for many with the same resolving host complaint in other discussions
There are 2 other pcs with the same windows 10/chrome setup in the household without the same issue. Its a little slow but not unbearably slow
Often the page will load and the tab icon will spin and the resolving host message will happen for 3 or more minutes.
I was fed up with Chrome so I thought I'd upgrade and try the new Edge 2.0, at first the new Edge 2.0 seemed to not have this "resolving host" and I was
convinced I had a new favorite browser. The honeymoon was soon over and while I found I really like Edge 2.0 the resolving host is just as bad.
EDIT: I installed Firefox and it does not have the same "resolving host" issue as Edge 2.0 and Chrome. My chrome and Edge tabs can now sit and spin for many minutes or sometimes never stopped spinning.
what can be done now? I can open my own discussion if it needs to be. Thank you I'd like to get back to Chrome or Edge 2.0 I really don't care at this point
Its been a few days and Firefox runs like a dream, seems to have better security built-in too.
No one seems to know how to resolve(LOL) my and many others "resolving host" issue so I'll stick with Firefox
Personally I think both the Corona Virus and Chromium's 'Resolving Host' issues are related..... all of your page requests are being sent to a government supercomputer tracking your every electronic move, as they use the virus to hasten the one-government world order.
How's that for a conspiracy theory?
Or... It could just be that it's just Chromium's fault. You choose.
