"Resolving Host" is making the new Microsoft Edge unusable.

Updated to new version of Edge a couple weeks ago and am looking for a way to 'downgrade' to the old version... or recommendations for a non-chromium based, secure browser.

Why?  Because the 'Resolving Host' delay that Edge is now performing on just about EVERY web page is driving me nuts.  Delays page loading by 2 - 10 seconds on EVERY PAGE.  How is that better?

I've tried clearing Edge's cache, Windows cache, changing dns to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 and to the two IP's specified by my ISP (in addition to relying on my router's handling of DNS), rebooting modem+router/PC.  Nothing has helped.  

Any other suggestions?  Perhaps point me down a better path?

    I tried this some time ago in response to a prior post. It worked

    initially, but I still have the "resolving host" problem, albeit

    perhaps not quite as often as I did before. Still have to reboot

    at least every 2-3 days.

    MSFT threatened to "upgrade" edge on another machine 

    yesterday, I responded that I don't want the "upgrade"

    I've been having the same issue with Chrome and Edge.  If you are running Malwarebytes there is a setting that works for me.  Open Malwarebytes click on the settings (gear icon) - you'll be on general settings - under Windows Explorer Settings - "Add Malwarebytes option to windows explore" toggle the slider to off then restart your computer.  Hope this helps.

    Just tried this and it solved the problem immediately..............................................Hope it Lasts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tried this two days ago and 'Resolving Host' seems to have disappeared

    Disabling smart screen did not resolve the issue for me.... and doing so puts your system at risk. I would advise against it.

    The folowing is a quote from another post and it was simpler than what you just explained to me..

    "I resolved my problem by disabling SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge. 

    Open the Windows Security panel go to App & browser control and disable SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge. " Hope this helps...

    I FINALLY FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR MY RESOLVING HOST ISSUE!!  Sorry for yelling, but...

    I've just dealt with the slow page (Resolving Host) response for a few months now... BUT I FOUND THE SOLUTION for my case..... (and no, it doesn't involve a new computer.)

    I do development on an old application that resides on an XP virtual machine, using the Hyper-V Manager.  The legacy app that I have to support requires an actual XP OS and is not compatible with ANYTHING newer... hence, the virtual machine.

    Since it is XP, I didn't want to give it direct access to the internet or my intranet, so I set up a vEthernet (virtual switch) in Hyper-V such that the only way to transfer files between the two environments was with an FTP server on the host environment and FTP client on the virtual environment, communicating through the virtual switch, effectively isolation the XP environment from the world.  

    That solved my XP security issue... but with Edge 2.0, the Ethernet Virtual Switch that gets set up in Networking by Hyper-V Manager apparently interferes with Edge 2.0.  Perhaps I've got some setting wrong, I don't know... but at this point, I don't care.

    Now... if I have to do some coding in the old environment, I just toggle on the vEthernet Switch and when I am done, I toggle it off again.  Edge 2.0 is FAST ONCE MORE!!!

    So... if you use Hyper-V and Edge 2.0 is slow... then try disabling the virtual Ethernet switch to see if it helps.
